This is the last week that I have pages ready for my webcomic, Adrastus. Unfortunately, since April I’ve been working on a Manga Studio 5 book that has taken up pretty much all of my time (and my creativity), and I haven’t had the chance to work on Chapter 13.

Right now I have three options- do a short side story comic that probably won’t be more than sketch pages, get a bunch of guest posts, or take a hiatus for the summer since once the summer is over the MS book will be out and I’ll be able to get back to work on comics. I’d like to be able to at least keep posting something on the site a few times a week, so I’m asking for guest art, fics, comics, or even blog posts for the site.

If you think that you’re “not good enough” to submit to the site, don’t think that! I love every piece of art or fiction that I get, and I try to post every bit of it. It’s all so special to me, whenever someone takes time to make something just for me.

So if you submit something for the Adrastus site, please make sure that you let me know a site of yours to promote! I have a fairly small, but loyal readership, and will also promote you on Facebook and Twitter. Anything Adrastus related is welcome, or blog posts about giant robots, comic art, or storytelling will be accepted too! So long as it fits with the themes of the comic, I’ll post it!

: Sunday morning art rant

juliedillon:

I’ve been thinking lately.. While it is important to an artist’s growth to learn from others and listen to critique and try new things, not everything everyone tells you is gospel. Even if a critique is coming from a teacher or industry professional. Not everything they tell you is written in…

“Allow me to present a completely incomplete and totally off-the-cuff definition of ‘art’. Art serves as a reminder. When we participate in art, when we make it or see it, or smell it, or hear it, or sit on it, we are being reminded of something. We are being reminded that something different is possible. When we see a sea bird sculpted from feminine hygiene products, we are reminded that things are not what they seem and that beauty can be found in the most unexpected crevices. When we find ourselves dressing in pork fat or singing to strangers in the name of art, we are reminded that when we stretch beyond our comfortable routines into the unknown, spectacular adventure is born. When we watch a decorated Christmas tree hover weightless over a field, we are reminded that our perceptions of the possible are only limited by the scope of our imaginations (and physics). You all made some amazing art and you all reminded me that there’s a world of possibility awaiting us when we are ready.” - Misha Collins

Oh wow, I went on Android Jones’ site for the first time in a while, and he has this progress video up. This is crazy amazing, and so beyond what I can even comprehend doing with digital painting. Wow wow wow.

…WELP.

*brain explodes*

I don’t know what I just watched, but I’m pretty sure it should have been tagged as porn

I made a video blog about the Positivity Project. (Possibly) Coming to an internet near you soon.

(I don’t know how the people who know me IRL can watch me talk. I make some of the weirdest faces.)

I read this really awesome tutorial on fabric folds that actually gave me some vocabulary to use and inspired me to do some warm-ups with cloth today. All were taken from stock photos I found on DeviantArt.

For anyone who didn’t see it, let me tell you.

The Doctor’s a time traveler. He brought Vincent Van Gogh (who was severely depressed and lost hope in his ability and himself) to the future, to a museum where they are celebrating his art.

I don’t know if any of you are artists (drawing, writing, whatever), but being a writer, this scene moved me to tears. You’re your own worst critic, and feel like your stuff is complete shit sometimes…maybe even to the level of despair like Van Gogh. But imagine someone brought you to a world where people love and appreciate your art. Or it means something so special to them. The thought of it is overwhelming.

I just about died

I’m crying right now not even kidding.
